Sales Engineer

Job Description

This opening is for a position as a Sales Engineer in our MECO division. It is a fulltime, long-term position with opportunity for advancement within our growing company. The responsibilities for this position include maintaining extensive knowledge of the product’s parts, functions, and processes, and assisting to close sales where technical expertise may be required.

To be successful as a Sales Engineer, you should possess an in-depth knowledge of our company’s technical products and services and you should be able to relate this knowledge in a way that is understandable to non-technical and technical customers alike. You should be driven to help the MECO customer base and achieve your sales goals and should have excellent sales and customer service skills.

Sales Engineer Responsibilities:

  • Preparing and delivering technical presentations to explain our company’s products and/or services to customers.
  • Discussing equipment needs and system requirements with customers and engineers.
  • Collaborating with the Sales and Engineering teams to understand customer requirements and provide sales support.
  • Generating high-quality sales leads, following up after initial contact, securing and renewing orders, negotiating prices in partnership with Senior Management, and completing sales.
  • In partnership with the Engineering and Sales Teams, researching, developing, and modifying products to meet customer’s technical requirements and needs.
  • Providing initial training and helping customers who have problems with installed products and recommending improved or upgraded options.
  • Soliciting and logging client feedback and evaluating the data to help create new sales and marketing strategies to target customers.
  • Identifying areas for improvement and communicating these issues as well as possible solutions to Senior Management.
  • In partnership with Senior Management, setting and achieving sales goals and quotas.
  • Training other members of the team on the technical aspects of the company’s products and services.

Qualifications

  • A bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology or related field.
  • Experience in technical sales and/or engineering is preferred but not required.
  • The ability to perform “hands on” technical work (installations, repairs, rebuilds, etc.) alongside customers in the field.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, customer service, and sales skills.
  • The ability to relate technical information to both technical and non-technical customers.
  • Excellent technical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong presentation skills and the ability to convey product value.
  • Excellent organization and time management.
  • Good leadership and team working skills.
  • Willingness to continue your sales and engineering education.
  • Willingness to travel, both nationally and internationally. Travel includes customer visits and trade show participation. Travel up to 33% of yearly working days.

Mid/Senior-Level Machinist

Job Description

                This position will require the applicant to perform several duties within the general scope of their title, as well as beyond that on occasion. The position’s main duties include, but are not limited to the following.

  • Material Preparation – Use band saw, table saw, etc., to prepare metal and plastic stock.
  • CNC Machining – Setup machine, drill, mill & profile plastic components using supplied macro programs.
  • Manual Machining – Set up machine, drill, tap, cut & mill metal and plastic components on a manual “Bridgeport” type knee mill.
  • Work with others in the MECO Shop to increase manufacturing efficiency by periodically reviewing processes.
  • Work with the Engineering Department to ensure good component conformity and manufacturing process.

We have several product lines with variations of each in terms of size, shape and features. Over time, developing a good understanding of our common product types will be beneficial to completing duties. This position will require the operator to stand extended periods of time at various work stations.

Qualifications & Experience

Potential candidates should incorporate the following.

  • Preferably, 5 or more years of experience.
  • CNC and manual machine experience.
  • Ability to read and understand engineering drawings.
  • Understanding of, or ability to learn, drawing GD&T.
  • Must be detail oriented.

Entry-Level Machinist

 

Job Description

            We have an opening for an entry level Machinist in the MECO Seal division of our company. This is a fulltime, long term position with the opportunity to advance in a growing employee-owned company.  This position will require the applicant to stand for extended periods of times. It will also require the applicant be able to lift heavy loads on occasion.  The position’s main duties include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Material Preparation – Use band saw, table saw, etc., to prepare metal and plastic stock.
  • Manual Machining – Set up machine, drill, tap, cut & mill metal and plastic components.
  • CNC Machining – Setup machine, drill, tap, mill & profile plastic components.
  • Work with others in the MECO Shop to increase manufacturing efficiency.

Any techniques or training needed for the position will be provided by Woodex Bearing Co., Inc. 

Developing a good understanding of our product types will be beneficial to advancing within the company.

Qualifications & Experience

The ideal candidate will have some if not all the following qualifications. On the job training will allow for the employee to advance to multiple stations over time.

  • Prior machine shop experience is a plus, but not required for this position.
  • Good math skills.
  • Ability to read and understand fabrication drawings.
  • Ability to use and read various precision measuring equipment a plus.
  • The desire to learn and work safely.

Compensation & Benefits

Starting wage is $16 to $18 per hour depending on experience.  Also included are excellent benefits, health insurance, HSA (Health Savings Account) contributions, life insurance, paid vacation & holidays, a 401(k) Savings program along with an additional retirement plan in the form of an ESOP (Employee Stock Ownership Plan).
